Now you can purchase almost 50 songs from the AnderSongs collection in either individual or album format. The eight albums of AnderSongs feature at least six individual songs, assembled under common themes, such as “Missing You,” “Old Movies,” “A Matter of Time,” and “Midnight Feelings,“ to name a few. Albums are $10.99, while individual songs are $1.99 each. (Please note that some songs appear on more than one album.)

A few of the songs—such as “Ghosts,” and “The Album”—are rough, basement tapes that none-the-less are among my favorites. However most are studio quality, featuring the stylings of incredible musicians.

For example, Buddy Charlton of Ernest Tubb’s Texas Troubadours, contributes a soulful, mournful pedal steel interlude in “Sittin’ In the Dead of Night,” as well as a joyful introduction to “Daybreak.” He also weaves a wistful journey of discovery throughout “A Matter of Time.”

Jill Matthews (now Pekofski of the ToneDrivers) takes the lead in one version of “Roll In the Arms,” backed by Sweet Honey In the Rock’s incomparable Yasmeen Williams.

Jonas Taub provides his unique and creative lead acoustic guitar on most of these songs. You’ll especially want to check out “Old Movies” and “Workin’ Undercover.”

Peter Bonta, at whose studio many of these songs were recorded, provides great musicianship and whimsy, especially with his mouth harp accompaniment to “Slow-Time Blues,” while his magical synthesizer creates an old-timey calliope in “The Merry-go-round Song.”

The mallet work of Pete Chauvette on his vibes reinforces the mesmerizing rhythms of “West Texas Sunrise” while Jill’s haunting descant adds to the sense of deja vu. Gantt Kushner’s electric guitar riffs complete the journey.

I have to take responsibility for the songwriting and most of the lead vocals. One of my personal favorites is “Missing You,” which my wife Janet and I have enjoyed singing together over the years.
